The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; Your love, O Lord, endures forever ~ do not abandon the works of Your hands. Psalms 138:8

Do you remember....

what it was like to play until dark on a hot summer's night?

We stopped in last week and caught Jacob swinging in the sunset....sheer delight!

Wee Cole

I'm having a bit of difficulty lately getting a photo of the wee chief....he's always in a hurry...and doesn't stop and pose for Grammie, that's for sure!

Grammie's Garden

Jacob is fascinated with our swale garden....he seems to know that it is a special place just for him.

Don't you just love watching a child at play?! The innocence and beauty of it...puts me in mind of Jesus' words in the scripture....

Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.

Simple and deep all at the same time....just something to stop and think about.
Enjoy your day, my friends.....walk in the truth....you are a Child of the King!

Camping on Quadra

It has been a few years now since we last camped.....not because we don't love it, but just 'cause we have found other ways to vacation. But with the added attraction of cuddling with our wee Denay.....off we went to Quadra Island (a ferry ride from Campbell River, Vancouver Island) to where T&C were camping along with Christy's family.
We slept in the back of the Escape.....quite cosy but it worked! Bob set-up a kitchen from the tailgate....we had it down like a couple of pros....I was very proud of how resourceful we were...it was such fun! Thankfully it was sunny after the first night...camping in the rain is not for me!
Christy's Mom and Dad took us out for lunch on their boat....pics of the prawn traps being hauled in...mmmm....we had some great prawn meals....thanks T&N!
What a joy to have two families blend together and enjoy each other's company....we are truly blessed!

Don't you just love the fun of summer?! It is unlike any other time of the year....picnics, walks with the warm sun on your face, enjoying God's world....such beauty!!
...Sunset over the bay on Quadra Island

Enjoy the outdoors, dear friends, while you can!

Just Grampy 'n me

Today we had Jacob for a morning visit, and Bob took him to the pool for some fun....just the two of them. Apparently, fun was had by all, and Jacob is getting the hang of water sports...he was King of the Slide by the time he left.
God is good; I am thankful

White Rock beach

(click on photos for a closer look)
Okay, so if I told you this photo was taken in some romantic faraway place....Laguna Beach.....Puerto Vallarta....or Daytona Beach...you might just believe me.
But right here just 20 minutes drive from my home is the lovely beach community of White Rock.
This was the place that both of Bob's parents were raised. They lived across the street from each other, fell in love and on December 31, half way through Rosie's grade 12, they were married in the 1st United Church office in Vancouver. They eventually subdivided the Cook land into 10 lots and sold them for very little....Dad said they didn't make hardly anything by the time the dust settled on the deal. The property was south of Buena Vista Drive on Cook Street (named for G-ma's family ) now re-named Kent Street. Oh, to have just one of those view lots now!
We spent a terrific afternoon on Sunday with my bro and SIL. We walked all the way down from their house to the sandcastle competition on the beach. We caught a gospel concert, had an ice cream cone, and walked back up the hill (paralysis set in the next day). As I was taking photos, my brother said "Blog this...three months almost to the day....this guy, a heart patient, walked to White Rock and back"....pretty amazing. We are very thankful for the great progress that Ken has made.....he's almost back to normal, and able to complain (always a good sign!).

Hope you are able to take time to walk in the sunshine...be blessed

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Today is my Mom's 87th birthday.....she is one amazing woman! She lives on her own in an apartment in White Rock, she walks to the mall, goes out whenever anyone asks her...which is fairly often, crochets baby blankets for every new baby that comes along, and still makes a mean pancake breakfast.

Bob and I, with some of my siblings, took her out for breakfast and then she is going to go to the finale of the Symphony of Fire tonight with my other sister, Dianna. Like I said....she goes out whenever any one asks!

We hope you feel blessed and loved all year long, Mom.
Happy Birthday to you, Mom.....we love you lots!

Yeah BC!

This post is in celebration of BC Day 2008.

I am so thankful to live in such a gorgeous part of God's world...and part of the enjoyment of living here is the abundance of fresh fruits we have available to us. Last night we had friends over for dinner and served nectarines and ice cream for dessert ( I just crumbled ginger cookies on top, then added whipped cream and a strawberry on top!) So simple, but so tasty...the nectarines this year are amazing!

Thanks Steve and Marilyn for a great visit together...always love our time spent with you.

And Yippee for 150 years of Beautiful British Columbia!

Enjoy, my friends
